Online Family and Friends: We hope you

Filled With Commitment and Dedication
years ago this upcoming Sunday was a happy day for my husband “Todd”
and I; but to be quite honest, it was a bit terrifying.
Imagine 2 young people recently out of high school standing
in front of the Justice of Peace and promising/committing to each
other we would love, honor, trust, respect and obey.
Yup, I remember it like it was yesterday…eloping in Upper
Marlboro, Maryland (LOL)!
Slipping away early one extremely cold morning without
informing anyone, taking those special vows and committing to each
other to build our life together…WOW!!!
the years many people have asked me/us: “what’s your
secret…how could you be so close for so many years?”
Gee, it takes a lot more than closeness!
I find being respectful is extremely important.
Committed and dedicated, plus being supportive to each
other with everything we do is absolutely significant. You must be
close…best friends, as well as partners; and someone you are not
afraid to tell all your secrets. Patience too is imperative as
well as forgiving. Above
all, and most importantly tender LOVE…LOVE…LOVE is key!
would be silly of me to say everything is the same [like the first
day,] because nothing ever stays the same.
Indeed lots have changed, even us individually; the way we
think, the way we act, our image, and even the way we deal with
things. However, all
these changes have been great; because with the changes, there
were enormous amounts of learning experiences and tremendous
26 years ago was nothing to be scared about, because we have built
a lot together. Gosh,
I find as with Todd's Mom and Dad; we as a couple
constantly live our life almost the same way they did theirs
too did everything together [when my Father-In-Law was alive.]
The meals being eaten together (always)
continues in our home; and the love and support they expressed is
evident in our lives as well.
hoo, life has never been boring for me/us; the dream building,
setting and achieving our goals, exploring, traveling, working
together successfully, and just building and building has been
extremely exciting. Throughout
the years every experience and accomplishment have been embedded in
my mind because they have been fulfilling and good; even the rough
ones. I am confident
I have someone who “has my back.”
have heard folks say God sends each and everyone of us an angel,
and I am so happy that my angel found me a few months after
arriving in this country in 1979; and later this angel decided
that we had to take those vows and commit ourselves to each other.
These years have been phenomenal,
[even with the many ups, and many...many...many downs (LOL)];
and I am so very thankful that it has been exceptional.
you Todd for these lovely, intriguing and enjoyable 26 years of
marriage, plus the 6 years prior to being married. Thank you for loving, supporting, trusting, respecting and
sharing with me. It
has been tremendous, and I am so looking forward to [with
anticipation] more exciting times ahead in our lives; as we
continue growing, building and achieving each and every one of

DIALOGUES + UPDATES
"Going Home" ceremony for young "Wayne Channin
Cuffy" was astounding and remarkable.
From my observation, it seemed to have been approximately
400 people in attendance (standing room only at the church).
The service was extremely heartrending, and very nice.
Especially, nice to see the Ambassador of Grenada Ms.
Bristol in attendance; and who said some wonderful words about
"Wayne Channin" and his family.
was very clear this young man touched everyone’s life in some
way or another, and he was loved so very much, just like his
older brother "Brendon."
Channin Cuffy" had a golden heart, and he will sorely
be missed. I know
he is in the arms of the Almighty and he is watching over his
I mention "Brendon.",
I am amazed by the strength of this exceptional young man.
However, I see how much he is hurting due to the
unfortunate loss of his baby brother…his pal…his boy…his
all he was on the scene of this painful accident.] For the few times I saw him over this past week, I saw a bit
of anger; which is expected.
Hum, it is evident in his walk, his movements, and in his
mannerisms. He is
smiling and loving as always, but I sense a bit of anger, and
there is a strong possibility he is wondering [as I did when I
lost my brother] “what could I have done to save my brother?”
Needless to say, it is an extremely painful feeling, and
one you will never get over.
Moreover, the grief is unbearable! In fact, in Brendon’s
case I believe it will take an extremely long time to get over
his loss and the emptiness he is experiencing.
May he find peace, especially knowing that his Mom Celina
and Dad Wayne loves him unconditionally, and he must be
there for them as they all grieve together.
we all know, there is no greater pain than the loss of a child;
so we have been keeping Mr. and Mrs. Cuffy in our thoughts as
well as "Brendon"
and the family. However,
I want us to especially keep "Dwayne
Cuffy" on top of our list, because he was with his
brother on this unforgettable and devastating day. Most importantly, they were inseparable; and therefore he
must have known all of his brother’s thoughts and secrets. Obviously, the memories
has build with "Wayne Channin" as they grew
will forever be in his mind, soul and heart (after all ~~~
they were one year apart).
The exceptional love he have for his
brother will never fade.
I stated last week; our heart goes out to the entire Cuffy
family, and we pray that in time love and strength will heal
their hearts and elevate the pain they are enduring. May
God bless them and be with them during this very difficult time.
of all the wonderful e-mails and comments I received regarding
the loss of "Wayne Channin;" a lovely gentleman
e-mailed me some words that are nice and thought provoking.
Thank you for writing the following statement Mr.
you will find our friend Hollis Lashley remembers "Wayne
Channin Cuffy." which you will find under his
you Hollis for writing such lovely words!
the loss of a child is a very difficult thing to do. It is
necessary to celebrate the passing life of a young
person. I realize how loved this young man was by
his father based on his height as noted. I was told that a
father’s love for a son is like sunshine to a plant. The
love of a father is the necessary dew and sunshine to
strengthen a young man. As you all celebrate please note
the most difficult time will be experienced by the older
brother. God knows what is best for each of us and
the return of the younger son to the FATHER is an act of
mercy. His time was served here on earth and he has
touched the life of so many at a very young age, but his
mark was made nonetheless. Now people must embrace
the love this child showed and become as loving and
caring as he was in his absence.

WAYNE CHANNIN CUFFY!
Sr. and Celine Cuffy have been surrounded by friends and
family over the past few days. Their loss has been a
community loss, the loss of a vibrant, joy-filled, strong
hugging, happy child whose life was filled with music and
Geise, in his remarks, spoke of how we usually cannot see
and reason beyond life, as death comes when it will; in the
beginning, middle or end of our years. He reasoned that a
young death, as that of Channin, can be interpreted as
though we have been robbed, and breaks our hearts twice as
much as is usual.
he asked, “What do we do when faced with this mystery?”
added that we should grieve, mourn, but we should also
console each other and not give in to despair at this
awesome mystery. He called on the family and friends to have
faith: the kind of faith which helps Christians to see, and
to know what lies beyond, when we refer to the death and
resurrection of the Christ.
reminded us that even with strong faith, we still
hurt, as we miss our child, our brother, our sister, our
parents, our friend. Yes, many will miss Channing. Those who
knew him personally, and those who did not, for even in
death an eloquent statement was made about the power of
family, discipline, community spirit, love and the rippling
effects of parenting and raising a child whose light did
shine, however briefly, in a world which needs to focus so
much more on love, than on the material baubles which cause
us so much pain.
we continue to support the Cuffy family in their Grief and
we can, in small but meaningful ways. A kind word, a
positive call, a reassurance that there is a bigger picture
which we cannot see, a remembering of those principles which
guided the parents of Channin, and which helped to produce
such an exemplary being, and of course the realization that
there is no death to conquer, but only life in its many
manifestations to understand and to live victoriously.
the light of God surround the Cuffy family,
Love of God enfold them,
Power of God protect them,
The Presence Of God watch over them.
they are, God is there, and all is Well.

REMARKS, plus A THANK YOU WORTHY OF NOTE; REMINDERS, ETC.
about our remarkable President Barack Obama’s 2nd
State of the Union Address?
Hum, I find it interesting and funny that every time I
see our President I get goose bumps.
is such a wonderful sight though, seeing him standing amongst
our law makers, State representatives, Supreme Court Justices,
Joint Chiefs of Staff and his cabinet members.
It was fascinating to see during this address on many
occasions both parties (the Republicans and Democrats) on both
sides of the isle were standing up clapping TOGETHER.
That was a "WOW" moment! If you
did not have an opportunity to see the address CLICK THE PICTURE
BELOW to view and listen to his words.

I close, I want to say a special THANK YOU to the
ANGEL that convinced my husband “Todd” to follow him
in his white box truck over the snow filled embankment after
sitting on one of the many highways [for over 5 hours] that was
at a standstill during the snow storm in our area on Wednesday,
Jan. 26th. Because
of this man’s kind and convincing words, Todd was safely and
successfully lead through the high amounts of snow to a turn
around that lead him back into a town in Maryland where he
filled up on gas, had some food, and found room in an Inn where
he was able to get warm and had a place to lay his head for the
night. Thank you so
very much SIR (who ever you are).
You turned an extremely awful and worrisome night into a
safe and good one.

the Image: Caribbean Interventions, an exhibition of
contemporary art from 12 Caribbean countries, was launched
at the Art Museum of the Americas (AMA) in Washington DC.
Featuring work by artists from the Bahamas, Barbados,
Belize, Dominica, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and
Nevis, Suriname and T&T, the exhibition is crated by
artist and curator Christopher Cozier and art historian
Tatiana Flores. Wrestling with the Image: Caribbean
Interventions presents works in a variety of media,
including photography, video, painting, graphic arts,
sculpture, and installation. According to a release, the
scope of the objects demonstrates how the region’s
contemporary artists are confronting stereotypes about the
Caribbean without denying their own surroundings or
rejecting the worlds in which they operate.
investigations on history, tourism, globalization, popular
culture and gender, these artists urge us to reconsider
our own expectations on how a Caribbean image should look.
Characterized by scholars as ‘the laboratory of
globalization,’ the Caribbean is a multifaceted locale
that transcends geographic boundaries. Its culture has
European, African, Asian, Latin American, and Native
American roots,” said Cozier. “This is a conversation
about movement in the Atlantic world, a dialogue about
dispersal rather than displacement.”
Many of the artists
themselves no longer live in the Caribbean, residing in
the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia, nevertheless,
their experiences are the result of complex historical,
economic, and cultural processes that are part and parcel
of what it means to be Caribbean. Past and present, local
and universal, and self and other are among the
dichotomies addressed in this exhibition. The exhibition
forms part of the About Change emerging artists’
program, an initiative of the World Bank in partnership
with the Inter-American Development Bank, the OAS, and the
Caribbean Community (Caricom) Secretariat. Wrestling
with the Image continues until March 10 at the Art Museum
of the Americas, 201 18th Street, NW Washington, DC.
